Fifty years is a long period by any account. The Maternity Hospital, Kuala Lumpur has been growing from strength to strength over this period since its inception in 1963.The foresight of the planners was commendable in creating an icon for maternity services in Malaysia. Almost everybody who is somebody in O&G has had a link to MHKL at some part of their training or career. At the very least, they would have attended a course at MHKL.
It is therefore timely for us to continue this tradition of educating by celebrating the Golden Jubilee with hosting a scientific congress that showcases developments in the 4 subspecialty areas of O&G. The pre- and post- congress meetings will be equally lively events enabling participation by subspecialists, trainees in O&G and nurses. All niche areas are taken care of.
I welcome all delegates to mark the dates in their diaries for next year and come to celebrate the 50th birthday of this hospital which has helped to deliver more than 925000 babies in that period. You will not leave disappointed.
Dato’ Dr Ravindran Jegasothy
Senior Consultant & Head
Department of O&G
Hospital Kuala Lumpur
Dear friends and colleagues,
On behalf of the Organising Committee, it gives me great pleasure to invite you to Maternity Hospital Kuala Lumpur’s (MHKL) Golden Jubilee Congress. This congress is part of the celebrations commemorating 50 years of MHKL’s servitude to the public and the nation. MHKL has had a great impact in the development of O & G services in Malaysia and has established itself as a premier service and training institution.
This meeting aims to promote excellence in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and to bridge gaps between the expansion of medical innovation and its clinical implementation. International and local experts alike will share and impart experiences in lectures that promise to be both stimulating as well as interactive.
We hope as many delegates as possible will make the most of this opportunity to attend this Golden Jubilee Congress, which will contribute towards improving our clinical practice in particular, and women’s health in general. The topics cover core, as well as all the subspecialty Obstetrics and Gynaecology services. The pre-congress and post-congress workshops are also brimming with quality lectures and interactive sessions. Whether you’re a specialist, a trainee or a paramedical staff, this congress has been designed to cater to your thirst for knowledge. There’s something for everyone!
See you at Istana Hotel,
Dr. P. Kannappan,
Head Reproductive Medicine Unit, MHKL.
